(Learning Goal 1) Knows how to move back and forth between the reservation and city as needed.

(Learning Goal 2) Knows how to stand up for himself/herself in a respectful way.

(Learning Goal 3) Is able to interact comfortably with people of other cultures.

(Learning Goal 4) Knows how to effectively and respectfully respond to racism, prejudice, and discrimination.

(Learning Goal 5) Knows how to develop a strategy to cope with change.

     Expectations:
  1. Describe differences between the reservation and the city (e.g., lifestyle, people, living situation).
  2. Name three people to support you on the reservation.
  3. Name three people to support you in the city.
  4. Describe how to interact with others on the reservation.
  5. Describe how to interact with others in the city.
  6. Explore the impact of different social circles (city and reservation) that touch your life.
  7. Describe the importance of positive interaction between a person’s native community and the surrounding community and vice versa.

     Expectations:
  1. Define racism, stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination.
  2. Demonstrate two positive strategies to deal with prejudice and discrimination at home, work, school, and in the community.
  3. Describe how to use self-advocacy in responding to prejudice and discrimination.
  4. Describe how self-advocacy skills are similar to leadership skills.
  5. Describe legal action one could take to deal with discrimination at home, work, school or community.
